lots going on...

Hi there bloggity readers,
We do have a lot going on right now. As we prepare to leave for our trip to India and Portugal, we are feeling the pressure of having everything ready for our trip as well as everything that will carry on here at home while we are away! So, our days are full of work, thank goodness, that will give us money, thank goodness, that will help on our trip and to pay bills that will still need to be paid while we are gone!
We are constantly reminded of how God has provided for us so far and will not stop now, and we are grateful for each and every reminder.
Other than still working to get our funds in shape, we are also preparing for the trip emotionally and spiritually. It is always interesting that when going on a trip specifically to do God's work, we feel the need to get a little more serious about our relationship with God and work a little harder at retaining Bible verses and listening a little more intently at church. Why we don't feel the need and responsibility with such urgency while we carry on His work here in the states, I will never understand completely.
That being said, we are preparing to step out of our 'home' culture and into not one, but two very different cultures that neither of us have experienced before. While we are excited about the experiences we are about to enjoy, we are also aware that there will be things that will challenge us and stretch us while we are there.
We are also preparing spiritually through working on some Bible stories and also working on how to share our testimony in ways that will be clear and somewhat short. (If you have ever met Doug, you know that the 'short' part of this is very challenging!)
And last but not least, we are preparing to go by filling our luggage with a number of items that both sets of families cannot get where they are living. It is a great joy to be able to bring necessities and gifts to them and we continue even now to encourage all of you to give us a call, we still have things on their 'wish lists' that you can help us purchase!
Be in prayer for us as we look forward with a great deal of excitement and preparations here in the last few days before we depart!
